Adam Mayon

Adam recently became an instructor for the Piano Sensei studio. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing musician and teacher! Read about him and listen to him play below . . .

Born in Morgan City, Louisiana, Adam Mayon’s immense pianistic interest began at the early age of five. For nearly twenty years, he has harnessed his talent, and his success as a pianist has grown substantially in recent years through his intensive schooling and professional experience. Adam received his Bachelor of Music degree from Loyola University, New Orleans with a summa cum laude title and his Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. In 2011, he won 1st prize in the National Division of the Music Teacher’s National Association Young Artist Competition as a junior in undergraduate studies. That same year, he performed in the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, Illinois. He was recently awarded 2nd prize in the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artists Competition in June of 2017. He also performed in venues in Long Island, NY as part of PianoFest in the Hamptons 2017, directed by Paul Schenly. Though an avid performer, his love of teaching has been notably shown through his position as a Teacher’s Assistant for Group Class Piano at Eastman. Adam further diversified his musicianship through his roles as a Preparatory Piano Instructor and Staff Accompanist at Loyola University New Orleans.

Adam is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also teaches college group and private piano classes as Head Graduate Assistant in Secondary Piano under the supervision of esteemed piano pedagogue Dr. Michelle Conda. Adam has studied under several teachers including Soyeon Kate Lee (current teacher), James Tocco, Douglas Humpherys, John Murphy, Frank Heneghan, H.J. MacCracken, and Chan Kiat Lim. He has also performed in master classes with distinguished guest artists such as Emanuel Ax, William Bolcolm, Enrico Elisi, Nelita True, Logan Skelton, Alexander Korsantia, Alexandre Moutouzkine, and Stanislav Ioudenitch.

Adam serves as the president of the CCM MTNA chapter.  He is also an active member of Music Teacher’s National Association and Ohio Music Teacher’s Association. He hopes to continue to inspire and to motivate all people through the precious gift of music.
